A short psychological horror exploration-based game that focuses on atmosphere and plot. The story is inspired by numerous works by Franz Kafka, in particular The Castle (Das Schloss, 1926). 

The Story

You just arrived at the Inn when someone tells you that every immigrant needs a Permit from the Castle to stay in the area and kicks you out. The path for acquiring the Permit is filled with bureaucratic deeds and existential dread. During your journey, you will encounter different characters. Some will guide you through your quest to get the Permit; others are already too corrupt to be of any help to you, and to themselves.

• Original handcrafted assets: every 3D model, character design, and piece of music is original and made by me without generative AI
• 400m x 400m game map with multiple locations and interactable characters
• Atmospheric retro-style graphics
• One ending

Controls

• WASD: move
• Mouse: look around
• E: interact with objects and characters
• Left Click: advance dialogues
• Esc: access the pause menu, where you can adjust mouse sensitivity, check items and collected gems, and view your active quest

Estimated Duration

Approximately 30 minutes. It can last longer depending on how much you feel like exploring the map.

Credits

This is my second game, and I made it entirely as a solo developer.
